Renal disease.

HIGH - Acute or chronic renal insufficiency (urea, K ?), urinary tract obstruction, hypertension, chronic glomerulo-nephritis, diabetic nephropathy, polycystic kidneys, reflux nephropathy,SLE, acute muslce wasting, elderly, toxins large intake of meat or vitamin C drugs (eg. Analgesics, NSAID).
LOW - Pregnancy, chronic muscle wasting.

Retention of creatinine is an indication of glomerular insufficiency; it is excreted by filtration through the glomerulus. Abnormal results (up or down) may be caused by high blood glucose or bilirubin, or by the drug cefoxitin.
